Team Novo: Julianne, Rajda and Abed at the booth in the US Pavilion.
Novo Surgical just returned from Arab Health in Dubai, the largest healthcare gathering in the MENA region. The conference brings together tens of thousands of professionals including clinicians, administrators, distributors and healthcare product and service vendors with an interest in the region. As the world's fastest growing healthcare market, driven primarily by capacity growth in the Gulf States (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait & Oman), there is a tremendous degree of interest in these markets. Due to Dubai's central geography and accessibility from every major city globally, the event attracts a diverse group of participants. By perusing the vast exhibit halls and wandering across the dozens of country pavilions, one can get a sense of this diversity from the languages spoken and technologies highlighted.
2017 marks the fourth time Novo Surgical has exhibited in the US Pavilion, highlighting its broad portfolio of reusable surgical instruments to distribution partners in the region. Because the public healthcare sector is dominant in the Middle East, most procurement activity takes the form of large tenders, giving companies with broad offerings the best chance of success. Novo Surgical has had a large degree of success in participating in these opportunities, offering great value for premium instruments. The company intends to continue to invest in building its strategy in the Middle East.
Abed, Julianne and Rajda from Team Novo were in attendance. In addition to the conference, they found some time to enjoy the local cuisine and culture. One of the highlights was a beautiful and exhilarating desert safari (not your typical safari!). While there were certainly camels and hawks to see, the highlight was racing through the sand dunes in Toyota 4-Runners outfitted with roll cages. It was a combination of laughs and screams, but Team Novo made it out unscathed. The evening commenced with a traditional meal and belly dance show under the desert moon. In addition to the dunes, the team enjoyed other local attractions including afternoon tea at the 7-Star Burj Al-Arab and views from the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.
We look forward to returning in 2018!
